🚀 We’re Hiring: Project Manager
📍 Location: Johannesburg
🏢 Business Unit: Merchant Operations Division
🧩 Function: Portfolio & Value Management Office (PVMO)
👤 Reports to: Executive Head: PVMO
(dotted line to Programme Manager when assigned to a programme)
⭐ Role Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing high‑quality projects within the Lesaka PVMO, delivering against scope, schedule, budget, and business case commitments.
This role ensures strong governance rigour, proactive risk and dependency management, and measurable business value realisation across all assigned initiatives — whether operating as a standalone project or as a workstream within a broader programme.
🎯 Primary Focus
To lead the end‑to‑end delivery of projects aligned to PVMO standards, while maintaining delivery discipline, stakeholder alignment, and visibility across risks, dependencies, and outcomes.
🔍 Key Responsibility Areas & Associated Tasks
📈 1. Project Delivery Excellence
• Develop and baseline comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, resources, budget, risks, and dependencies
• Deliver projects across the full lifecycle using Agile, waterfall, or hybrid methodologies
• Chair weekly project delivery sessions and drive corrective actions where variances arise
• Manage scope changes via formal change control processes
• Align Agile sprint planning with PVMO milestone governance
• When embedded within a programme, align delivery to the integrated programme plan
• Produce project closure reports and hand over benefits and lessons learned
🛡️ 2. Governance & Control
• Establish and operate fit‑for‑purpose project governance structures
• Produce accurate project reports, dashboards, and governance packs
• Conduct stage‑gate reviews and maintain audit‑ready documentation
• Ensure compliance with PVMO standards, organisational policies, and quality controls
• Maintain structured documentation repositories (Confluence or equivalent)
• Apply featherweight governance — right‑sizing controls to project complexity
⚠️ 3. Risk & Dependency Management
• Maintain a live and actioned RAID log at all times
• Identify and manage internal and cross‑entity dependencies proactively
• Assess, mitigate, and escalate risks using PVMO frameworks
• Facilitate regular risk reviews and ensure no surprise escalations
🤝 4. Stakeholder Engagement & Alignment
• Identify, map, and manage all project stakeholders
• Engage business sponsors, delivery teams, and partners proactively
• Prepare and present updates and decision papers for governance forums
• Partner with Change & Stakeholder Leads on communication and readiness
• Facilitate workshops and working sessions and document outcomes promptly
💰 5. Business Value & Benefits Tracking
• Maintain and contribute to project‑level business cases and benefits registers
• Track benefits realisation through delivery and post‑implementation
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial variances
• Conduct Post‑Implementation Reviews (PIRs) and feed lessons into PVMO standards
• Ensure project alignment to COO OKRs and portfolio priorities
👥 6. Team Leadership & Capability Enablement
• Provide day‑to‑day direction to the Project Coordinator
• Quality‑assure governance artefacts before submission
• Hold regular one‑on‑ones and provide structured feedback
• Support capability development aligned to the PVMO PM Academy
• Escalate performance or capacity issues early and transparently

🎓 Experience & Qualifications
Minimum Experience
• 5+ years’ experience managing full‑lifecycle projects in structured environments
• Demonstrated delivery of cross‑functional, multi‑stakeholder projects
• Experience across Agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery models
• Proven ability to manage budgets, governance artefacts, and RAID logs
• Experience reporting to senior stakeholders and governance forums
Preferred Experience
• Experience in fintech, financial services, or regulated environments
• Prior experience working within programme structures
• Exposure to multi‑entity or post‑merger environments
• Experience contributing to business case development and benefits tracking
Qualifications & Certifications
• Post‑graduate diploma or degree in Project Management
• Degree or diploma in Business Administration advantageous
• PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or Certified Scrum Master advantageous
